TRG Woodcut Prints

 




Woodcut reduction is the oldest form of printmaking.   I use sharp tools to carve a design into the surface of a wooden block.  The raised areas that remain are inked and printed while the recessed areas that are cut away do not retain the ink.   I use a traditional Japanese soft wood and hand press to ink one sheet at a time.  Due to the variation of this process, each print is unique.

  19 of my prints are displayed in the Oak Harbor Library for the month of September! Woodcut reduction is the oldest form of printmaking. I use sharp tools to carve a design into the surface of a wooden block. I then had layers of ink to the block, each color at a time, and use a hand press to imprint the image onto heavy paper.
